This car was completely restored but not to the satisfaction of the owner. A complete disassembly discovered poor quality work on the body, amateur patch panels on the rear floor, later teardrop taillights and other assorted problems.
The pictures show the rusty inner surface of the longitudinals on an otherwise rust free car (the longitudinal skins are cut off before blasting). We installed our frame stiffening panels along with a factory removable roll, as well as: floor pan, longitudinals, battery floor, etc.
The owner decided to restore this Speedster as an "Outlaw" GT. We converted the car to an authentic factory GT look and installed all the goodies we offer including a W/R 1925cc twin plug engine with EFI, stiffer torsion bars, decambered HD front spindles, alloy wheels and CBAA close ratio transaxle.
This car was the first to have our new 1925cc engine (at the time of this restoration) with twin plug ignition and electronic fuel injection.
This car went on to win the Judges Choice and 1st in Class at the Dana Point Concours (2004), and later attended the 50th Anniversary Speedsterfest in Monterey and was awarded "Best Outlaw"
